Fred Outa recaptures his Nyando seat after Supreme Court ruling

3rd July, 2014

The Supreme Court has reinstated Fred outa as the Nyando MP, overturning a decision by the court of appeal which had nullified his win. Justices Kalpana Rawal, Njoki Ndungu, Smokin Wanjala, Mohammed Ibrahim and Jackton Ojwang ruled that the court of appeal in Kisumu had erred by basing its nullification on allegations of bribery and abuse of public resources. Outa found himself in the cold after ford Kenya’s Jared Okello moved to the court of appeal and successfully challenged Outa’s election win. Outa moved to the Supreme Court in March this year to challenge the nullification of his victory by the appellate court. Outa says he will now go back to parliament to continue the projects that had stalled because of this court case.
