Parliament protests allocation of only one billion shillings for parliamentary service commission

Parliament has protested allocation of only one billion shillings for the parliamentary service commission in the supplementary budget.
Th psc had requested for 3.2 billion shillings to cover cost of mortgage and car loans to members of parliament. However in applying austerity measures, the national treasury slashed the request. At a meeting with the parliamentary budget committee, the psc was warned to exercise prudent financial practices. The commission led by its vice chairperson beth mugo revealed that only 205 members had received house loans.national treasury is seeking parliamentary approval to spend an additional sh121.8 billion to run government operations until june 30, with most of the funds going towards payment of salaries and allowances for public officers
