Safaricom launches online payment

Listed network service provider Safaricom has launched an online payment service ridding on its runaway successful M-Pesa platform. The lipa na M-Pesa online service is expected to revolutionize online shopping in the country. According to the firm, the service will allow online traders to receive payment for goods and services at a fee set at one per cent of the transaction amount. Currently, most online transaction services are charged at three per cent of the total costs. While Kenya has adopted a number of mobile payment services, online payment is still below its threshold.
