Walter Barasa extradition petition postponed to Tuesday

The petition challenging the extradition case of journalist Walter Barasa to the ICC has been postponed to Tuesday next week. Barasa had applied to halt the case, citing the alleged flouting of fundamental principles of fair trial. The attorney general and the director of public prosecutions had filed a suit seeking the joint hearing of Barasa’s petition and the ICC arrest warrant request. Barasa suffered a setback when high court judge George Odunga ruled against hearing the matter sepearately, instead referring it to the principle judge Richard Mwongo.
