For most of those who were born after Kenya gained her independence, it often seems as if Kenyatta International Conference Centre has always been a part of the city’s skyline, but the iconic building has only just marked its fortieth birthday. And while a Norwegian national is often credited for its unmistakeable design, the architectural brain behind the design of the building is actually a Kenyan, a man now in his eighties who now takes us down memory lane, recalling the events that led to the construction of the conference centre.
