News: Jericho gas explosion

28th October, 2012

Police officers from the elite general service unit together with members of the kenya defense forces were deployed to Jericho, Lumumba estate in Nairobi, after an explosion in the area.the explosion which was initially suspected to be from an improvised explosive device turned out to be from a gas leak. Just to be certain however, the area was sealed off as both the police and the KDF combed through the houses to make sure there were no hidden explosives in the estate. An estimated 15 families were forced to stand in the rain as they waited for police to clear the area. Security agents and kenyans in general have been on high alert following a series of explosions that have rocked the country, most of them linked to the al-shabaab militia of somalia and their sympathizers in the country.
