Mau Evictions Stopped
26th June, 2012
The government has put-off evictions from the Mau forest just a few months to the beginning of phase four of evictions. the fourth phase targets small-scale legal land owners and tea estates that benefited from the 2001 land excision, presently occupied by twenty-four thousand families. However, the government says it will enter into an agreement with those spared eviction to plant bamboo on their farms in a land lease arrangement.
