Tanzania’s Samia Suluhu Hassan has officially been sworn in as president following a tightly contested election that stirred controversy across the country. The swearing-in ceremony, held in Dodoma, was attended by senior government officials, security chiefs, and diplomats.
Suluhu, who becomes the country’s first female head of state to be re-elected, pledged to foster unity, strengthen democratic institutions, and steer Tanzania toward economic recovery.
The election, however, was marred by reports of chaos, vandalism of election materials, and opposition claims of irregularities. Despite these tensions, Suluhu urged citizens to maintain peace and focus on national development, promising to prioritize dialogue and inclusivity in her new term.
