Families of Gen Z Protest Victims Rally at Memorial Park Demanding Justice and Accountability

20th June, 2025

Families of victims killed during last year’s Gen Z-led protests gathered at Memorial Park in Nairobi to demand justice, accountability, and an end to police brutality. The emotional rally comes days ahead of the first anniversary of the deadly demonstrations against the controversial finance bill, which left at least 63 people dead and dozens missing. Grieving relatives called for independent investigations, prosecution of officers involved, and reparations for affected families. Despite warnings from government officials urging against public commemorations, activists and loved ones vowed to keep the memory of the victims alive and push for lasting reforms.
