Close to 11 billion shillings has so far been spent in increasing the number of technical and vocational education training institutions. Speaking in Kitui, education principal secretary Margaret Mwakima noted that the number of institutions has gone up from 52 in 2013 to 238. Mwakima says the intention is to curb growing youth unemployment. She spoke while commissioning the mechanical engineering department at Tseikuru technical training institute.
