Drama in Naivsha as squatters storm farm over bias

4th August, 2018

There was drama in a Naivasha estate after a group of squatters stormed one of the farms claiming bias in the issuance of land meant for their resettlement. The more than 100 elderly squatters claimed an investor had sidelined them in the list for their resettlement and instead given it to outsiders.

Trouble started a year ago when the investor at Manera farm along Nairobi?Nakuru highway decided to resettle all the squatters who worked for Lord Delamere in the farm. The resettlement paves way for the squatters to move from where they live and adjacent to Lake Naivasha to another piece of land as the investor plan to put up a factory.

In the latest incidence, the squatters engaged anti?riot police in a heated argument after they were blocked from accessing the farm where a meeting was scheduled to take place.
