Government flags a Breastfeeding Walking in Nairobi

1st August, 2018

The government of Kenya has flagged off a walk for the World breastfeeding week at the Ministry of health headquarters today, with an aim to mobilize communities, mothers and health workers to ensure that every child in Kenya is breastfed at the very first hour of life and exclusively fed on mother’s milk for at least the first six months of life.

The head of preventive and promotive health Dr. Peter Cherutich Has emphasized that children who are extensively breastfed start off on a good footing in life as they are less likely to get sick, less likely to die and they actually do better in school. Cheurtich spoke at the official launch of breastfeeding week will extend to the Pumwani maternity hospital tomorrow.
