Joint Committee probing contraband sugar accused of lack of seriousness

1st August, 2018

The joint committee probing the presence of contraband sugar in the country is set to present its report before parliament today. The probe team that includes members of the agriculture and trade committees chaired by Kieni MP Kanini Kega, was given an additional 2 weeks to complete its inquiry into the sugar debacle after its preliminary report was dismissed by the house led by speaker Justin Muturi. Muturi cited lack of seriousness from the legislators and gave them an extra 10 days to carry out investigations to establish whether the sugar in the market is fit for human consumption.
