The search and rescue mission at a 10 storey building that collapsed on Thursday has been put on hold. Rescuers who have been at the scene are now waiting for specialized equipment from the Kenya defence forces saying there is very little the excavators can do at this point. At least six people were killed and more than 40 injured when the building that was under construction collapsed on Thursday in Kisii town. The building at Daraja Moja-Nyambera road near ram hospital came tumbling down mid-morning, bringing the town to a standstill. Kisii governor James Ongwae is calling on the national government to hasten the efforts in the rescue mission as time is running out. It is believed that there could be more people trapped underneath the rubble.
