Weekend @ One: Traders take City Market parking space by force from private developer,24/9/2016

24th September, 2016

Police in Nairobi this morning g dispersed City Market traders who wanted to forcefully take over the parking lot from a private developer. The land is alleged to have been grabbed from the city market in 1989 and the matter went to court which ruled this week that the land belonged to the public. The traders now want the city market management to resume operations after the declaration by the court. But the Nairobi police have since intervened claiming that the traders did not have the court order to evict the purported land grabber.
