News Desk: Nakuru transport operators agree not to pay town rates,9/23/2016

23rd September, 2016

Transport operators in Naivasha have agreed to stop paying the monthly rates to the Nakuru county government starting from next month. The move by the players who include matatu and motorcycle operators is meant to compel the county government to complete the rehabilitation of the main bus terminus in Naivasha. The terminus was closed three months ago but works have stalled leading to massive businesses losses, congestion in the town and daily traffic snarl-ups on major streets. This emerged when over 2,000 operators met in ACK hall in the town to discuss the way forward over the current impasse and challenges facing the sector.
