Goverment joins private sector to establish talks aimed at fostering business in Somalia

28th June, 2016

The government of Somalia has joined forces with the private sector to create investment opportunities for Somali entrepreneurs. The public private sector dialogue - PPD initiative was presented in Mogadishu today by the federal minister of commerce and industry, Mr. Abdi Rashid Mohamed Ahmed. The initiative, which will be driven by the Somali chamber of commerce and industry, aims at supporting the country’s economic growth, which is adversely impacted by low investment, insecurity and inadequate regulation. The special representative of the UN secretary-general for Somalia Michael Keating lauded the initiative, describing it as a catalyst for business.
