Government is set to vaccinate Children in Nakuru due to the Influenza Outbreak

The government is set to vaccinate at least 350,000 children aged below 5 years in Nakuru. This is after an outbreak of the influenza virus types A and B which has resulted in 39 deaths and more than 296 accumulated cases in the past 3 weeks. Health workers in charge of the influenza surveillance team monitoring the outbreak made a proposal to the national government to fund the program. The outbreak that has also spread to neighboring Baringo County, health experts warn that if not contained, could infect more vulnerable infants and the elderly, Nakuru North Sub-County has recorded the highest death toll of 15.
