Worshippers locked out of church after leadership wrangles force police to intervene
11th April, 2016
Worshippers of the evangelical Lutheran church of Kenya Atemo diocese Kasipul-Kabondo Homabay County were treated to rude shock after being barred from accessing the church venue for the Sunday service. The worshipers had to camp outside the gates which were heavily guarded by police. Church leaders pleaded with the officers for over an hour to be allowed into the church premises. It is believed that the clerics had met earlier and resolved to remove their Bishop Walter Obare whom they accused of embezzlement of funds and abuse of office. However they were later allowed to worship though the service was held outside.
