Blogger Anthony Njoroge charged in court for harmful publication against Governor Kabogo

Controversial blogger Anthony Njoroge Mburu will remain in remand at the Shimo La Tewa prison until Tuesday after a Mombasa court rejected his release pending bond determination. Njoroge is charged with allegedly accusing Kiambu Governor William Kabogo of importing substandard eggs on a facebook post published on january 8th. The nairobi based blogger is charged with three counts of harmful publication contrary to section 66 (1) of the penal code. The charge sheet allege that his literature was directly intended to harm kwale based sea cross farm which the blogger alleged had been used as a cover up by kabogo to sneak into the country low quality eggs. Human rights activist and senior counsel Victor Kamau has condemned the arrest as unwarranted arguing that the move was not in line with media freedom in Kenya.
