EACC detectives raid Murang’a County Governor Mwangi wa Iria’s home

The Ethics And Anti-Corruption Commission detectives this morning raided the home of Murang’a County Governor Mwangi wa Iria in search of evidence regarding graft allegations facing him. The detectives arrived at the home situated along Katanga road in Thika town at about 6am. The detectives are still at the home with governor. Anti-graft officials said they were also targeting Wa Iria’s relatives and friends’ residences in Nairobi and Kiambu. The commission’s spokesman Kirichi Marimba said the officers have obtained the search warrants to carry out the exercise. Wa Iria’s supporters trooped to the governor’s homes and jammed at the gates in an attempt to make a forced entry and eject the detectives. Police reinforcements from Gatanga have been mobilised to ensure law and order. Last year, the anti-corruption detectives arrested Wa Iria over an electoral related offence.
