Maasai community urged to plant trees in bid to achieve 10% forest cover as outlined in Vision 2030

The Maasai community from Transmara has been urged to plant trees in a bid to achieve a 10 percent forest cover as outlined in the Vision 2030. Speaking at Oldonyo Rasha Steve Nyambuka from Kamisitu Sacco said afforestation is important in ensuring goo environmental development adding that with the current Elnino rains it is necessary for the community to plant trees. The donated over 5000 seedlings in kicking off the exercise. The Maasai community who are known to be pastoralists suffer from drought especially during dry spells with the community forced to look for pasture and water.
