Largest biogas power plant in Africa opened in Naivasha

21st August, 2015

Naivasha residents have every reason to smile after a biogas power plant; the largest in the African continent was opened in the area. The plant has the capacity to recycle 50, 000 tonnes of organic waste to generate up to 2.6 megawatts of power which will be fed to the national grid. Built by tropical power company, the plant uses farm waste that is digested by micro-organisms to produce biogas. Nakuru governor Kinuthia Mbugua terms the project as a godsend to the county as it works to attract more investors.
