Health Cabinet Secretary James Macharia is defending the controversial Ksh 38 billion medical equipment project, saying it was driven by public demand. Macharia denies that the initiative was prompted by governors. The CS appeared before a joint sitting of the Senate Finance and Health Committees. The initiative has sparked controversy with the Council of Governors accusing the Ministry of insincerity allegedly because of withholding critical information about the contract.
