Drought hits West Pokot leading to school drop out
17th March, 2015
Thousands of residents in west Pokot are suffering due to water shortage in the region, a situation that has interrupted learning as pupils are forced to drop out of school in search of pasture and water for their livestock and domestic use. Cases of miscarriages among women in the region have also been reported…as pregnant women are forced to walk over 10,000 kilometers in search of water in the few scattered boreholes available, but it is a struggle at the water points as people and animals compete for water.
