Government hires audit firm KPMG to undertake a restructuring program of Mumias sugar

The government has reiterated the need to restructure Mumias sugar before any money can be pumped in to salvage the beleaguered sugar miller. Speaking in Bungoma County, deputy president William Ruto said the miller suffered from years of systemic management inefficiencies that had led to its poor performance. Two weeks ago Mumias announced a 2.1 billion shillings half year loss on the back of declining revenues. The government has hired audit firm KPMG to undertake a restructuring program for the sugar miller.
