22nd December, 2014
Tetu member of parliament, Ndung’u Gethenji, who is also the vice chairman of the National Assembly’s Departmental Committee on Defence has lashed out at foreign envoys for criticising the controversial security amendment laws 2014. Ndungu claims the envoys have not even read the provisions of the new law. Over the weekend, envoys from the US and European Union criticized the government for allegedly limiting the time allocated to debating the security laws. They expressed concern that some of the clauses appeared to limit freedom of assembly, media, refugees among other civil liberties.
