Solomon Mibey: Non-registered livestock will be moved out of Embobut forest in Marakwet

20th December, 2014

The Kenya Forest Service has issued a notice to livestock owners around Embobut forest in Marakwet to register them before end of January next year to avoid being moved out. The head of North Rift KFS conservancy Solomon Mibey has said after the lapse of the notice, non-registered livestock will be moved out of the forest area as a measure to control grazing in the water tower to facilitate speedy restoration. Mibey dismissed as mere speculation claims that 70 percent of families who were moved out of the forest last year had returned to Embobut forest.
