Occupy Harambee Avenue protests ongoing in the Nairobi's CBD

26th November, 2014

Members of the public and civil society are currently holding demonstrations in Nairobi’s central business district following rising insecurity in the country. The protests dubbed ‘occupy Harambee Avenue’ are geared towards raising alarm over deadly incidents that have taken place in the country with the latest being the bloody massacre in Mandera over the weekend. Members of the public have faulted the executive for being non-chalant following the attack, citing that president Uhuru Kenyatta should have cut short his visit in Abu Dhabi when news of the attack that left 28 people dead broke. The president is scheduled to return to the country this evening after being away for almost a week now.
