Ministry Health and UNICEF Kenya launch a nation-wide vaccination campaign against polio

9th November, 2014

This follows reports of polio outbreaks in some of our neighboring countries and low immunization coverage in some counties. The campaign runs between 8th to 12 November 2014. Health teams that are going house to house in a campaign that also incorporates a Vitamin A supplementation campaign across the country. Kenya has endorsed the world health organization declaration that polio is a public health hazard that demands urgent attention. Polio is a virulent that is mainly transmitted through contaminated water, food or human waste. There is no cure for polio; it can only be prevented by getting the polio vaccine.
