Shameless torture woman charged in court with cruelty and economic exploitation of a child

Evelyn Juliette Atieno, the woman who confessed to burning her underage house help with a hot knife was this morning arraigned in court. She was charged with cruelty and economic exploitation of a child on diverse dates between September and October 22nd. She pleaded guilty before resident magistrate Rita Amwayi. After prosecutor eric ochieng presented the facts before the court, the 27 year old Evelyn claimed she did so to make the minor work ‘faster’ and ‘harder’. The court, from prosecution’s facts heard the woman went to the minor’s parents in Komenya area in Siaya on September 7th and talked to them before she was allowed to employ her as house help. She also admitted that she knew the girl was underage and further stunned the court when she said that she usually employs young girls and that the previous one was even younger, as she was only 13.
