Dedan Kimathi students strike over denied certification of certain courses by Institution

22nd October, 2014

Students of the Dedan Kimathi University went on rampage barely days after they returned to school after an earlier demonstration that led to the closure of the school. The students were lamenting over the alleged failure of the institution to spearhead certification of its nursing and engineering course forcing them to undertake additional courses after graduation. Police had a rough time containing the students who had temporarily blocked the Nyeri-Nyahururu highway before retreating into the institution where they damaged property of unknown value. A group of students had earlier been suspended over a protest over alleged delay of higher education loans board funds.
