Dedan Kimathi University closed after students went on rampage

Following a demonstration by students of the Dedan Kimathi University of Technology yesterday, the university has sent its students home this morning with a notice requiring them to vacate the university premises before noon. Yesterday the students held a peaceful demonstration protesting against a delay of the higher education loans board money vowing to stay put until such a time when the money will be put into their respective accounts. A notice from the university administration further said communication to the students following the indefinite closure will be made later. Anti-riot police were stationed at the university to prevent any cases of chaos.
