Book publishers and authors are appealing for enactment of more stringent anti-piracy laws

29th September, 2014

Kenya publishers association chairman Lawrence Njagi says if nothing is done in the next two to three years, the vice is most likely to discourage authors resulting to reduced publication of creative works especially text books. Speaking at this year’s Wahome Mutahi awards, attorney general Githu Muigai said intellectual property was responsible for the growth of the country’s GDP to a middle level income and must be protected at all costs. Yusuf Dawood emerged the winner in the English adult category with his book titled “the last word” published by longhorn publishers.
