Women leaders from Nyanza region join hands to save girl child

Women leaders and female professionals from Nyanza and other parts of the country have joined hands in a program dubbed Okoa Mtoto wa kike Masomoni to check the high rate of school dropouts amongst girls due to poverty and lack of sanitary towels in Homabay county. Speaking during the launch in Mbita constituency Nairobi county first lady Susan Kidero and Homabay women representative Gladys Wanga said they are also going to launch a similar project for boys who have are the major cause
early pregnancies amongst teenage girls. The girls will be divided into groups and mentored by lecturers from Moi, Kenyatta, Nairobi, USIU and Strathmore universities with female politicians also participating.
