Media houses to pay for network coverage in the county
7th September, 2014
All media houses in the country will now part with 5% of their gross turnover annually towards the universal service fund established recently by the communications authority of Kenya.
Speaking in Mombasa, communication authority chairman ben Ngene said the contribution is compulsory and will be used to ensure that network coverage in the country is improved. He said that to enable schools, healthcare providers and other public facilities to have access to advanced telecommunications services, the information and communications act as amended provides for the establishment of the universal service fund.
