The government of Denmark commits Kshs 18 Billion to buld wind power plants in Kenya

The government of Denmark has committed 18 billion shillings to go into various development programmes in Kenya between 2015 and 2020. Key among the projects will be funding of renewable energy explorations in wind power.
The wind power developer Vestas is set to begin a wind for prosperity program at a cost of 879 million shillings to add onto its other ongoing projects in Ngong hills and Turkana wind farms. it is expected that investments in wind power will help provide clean and affordable energy to off-grid businesses and households. At the moment, the government is in dire need of 70 billion shillings to facilitate last mile connectivity to households even as it targets to produce 630 megawatts of electricity from wind in three years.
