Democratic republic of Congo signs peace deal with M23 rebels
13th December, 2013
The democratic republic of Congo has signed a peace deal with the M23 rebels who had caused unrest in the country over resources. The peace deal was signed in state house Nairobi just hours after president Uhuru Kenyatta led Kenya in celebrations to mark 50 years since independence. The peace deal was procured following recent defeats by the M23 rebels by the DRC government troops and UN backed forces. Malawian president Joyce Banda and Ugandan president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni praised the two sides for reaching a middle ground.
