Five people died and 13 others seriously injured in Machakos road accident

Five people died and 13 others seriously injured in a road accident along the Machakos Nairobi road after a 14 seater matatu that was heading to Machakos from Nairobi collided head on with a lorry that was coming from the opposite side. Accoding to police the matatu driver lost control of the vehicle after a tryre burst and collided with the lorry. Five people died on the spot among them the driver of the matatu, two male passengers, a woman and a child. The 13 injured were rushed to the Machakos level 5 hospital. The accident happened as Kenya joined the world to commemorate the international day for remembering road accident victims. During an event to mark the day, cabinet secretary Micheal Kamau together with inspector of police David Kimaiyo warned corrupt officers who let go traffic offenders at the same time saying police must enforce traffic rules.
