Raphael Wanjala and Joyce Akinyi are in custody on suspicion of drug trafficking

Former Budalangi mp Raphael Wanjala, Joyce Akinyi and three others suspects have been taken into custody on suspicion of drug trafficking .the five were arrested yesterday night along the Nairobi-Namanga highway where they are believed to have been travelling from Tanzania. In their possession was a white powder, which police suspect to be narcotics. Police reports say the powder has since been taken to the government chemist for further analysis to determine what, if any drug it is. Hamis Masa, the head of the anti-narcotics department said the suspects were being detained at the Muthaiga police station for further questioning. Officials in the case say the former mp and Akinyi have allegedly been on the police radar on suspicion of drug handling.
