Hussein Ali arrived at the ICC in support of the deputy president
20th September, 2013
The trial against deputy president William Ruto continued this morning in private session. The session kicked off after an open session that saw William Ruto’s and Joshua Arap Sang’s defense teams raise concerns over the private sessions and the availability of the redacted version of the testimony by witness 536. Before the court convened William Ruto got a surprise visitor. Former ICC suspect Hussein Ali arrived at the ICC in support of the deputy president. Ali arrived moments after members of parliament who are in The Hague engaged in an argument with Dutch police. The police had tried to prevent the MPs from gathering at the main entrance to the ICC. The MPs insisted that they were not demonstrators and were gathered at the entrance momentarily to await the arrival of their deputy president.
