30th August, 2013
Residents of Garissa have protested the move by police to halt the operations of the City To City bus company, after one its buses was involved in an accident which claimed 42 lives and saw over 30 other passengers sustain injuries of varying degrees. Transport cabinet secretary Michael Kamau and the traffic police commandant directed that all buses belonging to the company be impounded for inspection. Residents expressed dissatisfaction with this directive protesting that the company was being singled out. Passengers scheduled to travel after the announcement was made have now been forced to make alternative travel arrangements. The bus veered off the road at naleeka near narok. The garissa-nairobi route is city-to-city’s primary route.
