Atwoli condemns NSSF tendering system

28th August, 2013

COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli has called on the government to amend laws that took away the NSSF board’s power of approving tenders in procurement. This comes in the wake of an ongoing investigation on an alleged inflation of a tender to expand the Hazina Trade Centre in down town Nairobi. Speaking at a press conference earlier this morning, Atwoli says the decision to allow tendering without the board’s approval is a gateway to satisfying personal interests. There have been claims that the NSSF board manages the awarding of tenders.
