Trans Nzoia governor Patrick Khaemba asks government to reopen NCPB
19th August, 2013
Trans Nzoia governor Patrick Khaemba has appealed to the national government to reopen National Cereals and Produce Board despite crisis facing it. Speaking at Amuka primary school in Kwanza, Transnzoia, the governor said the move will help farmers from selling their produce through middlemen who exploit them by purchasing their commodities at lower prices. NCPB closed its operations after the money allocated by the ministry of agriculture to purchase maize for this year was exhausted in addition to allegations of misappropriation of money.
