Chiefs blamed for pending cases in Kakamega

3rd August, 2013

A judge has blamed chiefs for the numerous pending succession cases at kakamega law courts for those seeking to take over what was left behind by their deceased loved ones… While noting that since the beginning of the year, there are so far 587 succession cases, kakamega resident judge justice juma chitembwe, said the chiefs have not been executing their duties in ensuring the cases are resolved efficiently. The judge says people who have lost their loved ones are having difficulties in settling their succession cases because of lack of cooperation by the chiefs. The judge asked the administrators to be impartial when writing succession letters and also provide the necessary information to help in expediting of cases in courts. Chitembwe also cautioned members of the public against giving out bribes while sourcing for the succession forms stressing the issuance of forms is free of charge. He made the remarks at muranda village, kakamega county, during a judiciary-wanainchi public forum
