The association noted that the high residual levels are causing drug resistance complications among Kenyans who consume the products. Farmers are now being urged to contain the situation else their products will be barred from international markets. The vice-president of the association dr samuel kahariri attributes the problem to the hiring of unqualified veterinary practitioners, mainly in marginal areas, who do not follow the laid procedures while treating livestock. They now want the government to employ enough personnel so as to avoid giving room to unqualified staff.
