Kisumu police's water disconnected
22nd June, 2013
Police officers in Kisumu and its environs woke up to dry taps at their residences and work place after the Kisumu water and sewerage company disconnected the water supply to 19 stations and several police quarters. The security force is said to owe the utility firm close to 5 million shillings, with some stations and police lines having bills dating as far back as november 2011 … sources within the force indicate that a powerful cartel has been seeking kickbacks before settling bills with service providers … efforts to contact senior officers over the issue proved futile as they were unavailable.
