A standoff over Masinde Muliro Market in Kitale, Trans Nzoia County, has intensified, with a heavy police deployment preventing Governor George Natembeya from accessing the facility as planned.
Natembeya had vowed to visit the market and remove a plaque bearing President William Ruto’s name, insisting that the county government financed the project and deserved recognition.
The standoff comes amid heightened political tensions, following reports of a police raid at the governor’s Milimani residence.
