Boost for Azimio la Umoja as more than 25 governors declare support for Raila's presidential bid

17th January, 2022

ODM leader Raila Odinga's bid for the country's top seat today got a major boost after over half of the governors declared their support for him in the run-up to the August presidential elections. Speaking when they met in Naivasha, the governors said Odinga's role in championing for devolution during the 2010 referendum and the BBIprocess was a clear show that the ODM leader was committed to devolution. The leaders also blasted deputy president William Ruto accusing him of going against a push to have more funds devolved through the BBI.
