Unidentified body retrieved from Rupangazi river in Embu County

Police officers in Embu have launched investigations to establish the identity of the body of a man retrieved from the Rupingazi river in Embu County. Nick Kipkorir, the Embu West Subcounty police commander, said police visited the scene where the unidentified body was floating. He said police took the body to the Embu level 5 teaching and referral hospital. The Police Commander further revealed police had taken the fingerprints as investigations commenced to establish the identity. Harriet Muthoni, a farmer in Embu noticed something suspicious while at her farm adjacent to the river. She Said she felt something unusual while chasing monkeys from her farm. She added that the river had become dangerous as several bodies had been collected while calling upon the police to increase patrols along the area to increase security. Muthoni also said the water from the river was now contaminated but always found themselves using it for irrigation and domestic use. Sophia Muthoni, a villager elder at the Old stadium village in Embu West Subcounty, asked the government to help clear the bushes along the river to deter the dumping of human bodies.
